The program automatically FTP transfers the most recent of any of the various weather maps (e.g. Surface Analysis Map, Infra Red Light Map etc.) at vmd.cso.uiuc.edu and displays them using a GIF viewer such as xv. The site vmd.cso.uiuc.edu is no longer running but its easy to specify a new site name in the header file.
